Born in Rome and adopted into a white family when I was two months old, I was fortunate to grow up in a Anglo-Italian home and bilingual household, giving me immediate exposure to different cultural backgrounds, traditions, and perspectives.
From a very young age differences fascinated me, as did people. I discovered how much I loved languages, and that I had a natural talent for them. Growing up, I explored difference, chasing it wherever I could, digging deep into themes of identity, belonging and inclusion without really knowing it.
With that of course, the realisation that I was indeed “the other” in many situations and that does, often, set you back a bit but ultimately it builds resilience and it certainly developed my passion and drive to support others on their journeys towards a more diverse, inclusive and respectful world.
Something personal: I have recently looked into my ancestry and found a few more pieces to my identity; my ethnic background is Afro ( Mauritius) – Indian(Sri-Lankan).
Something professional: I have been fortunate enough to work cross-culturally and in a diverse range of industries which has only amplified my belief that difference is a huge asset. Individuals, their identity and uniqueness are enriching which is why Cultural Nexus Ltd is driven to support organisations realise, that is where the power lies.
People are my passion. I value difference, help break boundaries and leverage the power of being unique.
I see diversity as an opportunity – do you?
