The Association of MBAs ran a feature from Dr John-Mervyn Smith, Chief Psychologist at The GC Index, focusing on the hero innovator.

John said, “We have long been fascinated with the hero innovator and the power of a single, simple idea. In the Western World there’s an obsession with the people who are going to come into our organisation with a great new idea and who will disrupt and transform things. But in reality it just doesn’t happen in this way. Things change with an idea but it takes a number of contributory factors and teams of different role players to convert an idea into reality.

“Cultures that recognise and respect the contributions of a set of people wider than just innovation heroes will offer competitive advantage.”
